Shorecrest Preparatory School

St. Petersburg, FL

Phase I : 13,110 SF

Phase II: 32,000 SF

Completed 2002

A redesign of the campus master plan was completed to incorporate renovations and additions.

Phase I :

Sher 5th and 6th Grade Center :

Pre-engineered metal building structure addition that contains classrooms, computer labs, science labs,  administration offices and restrooms.

Phase II:

Janet Root Theater / Gallery, Haskell Library, and Raymund Arts & Media Center :

The building is the new anchoring force of the campus, providing a center  that serves as the hub between the upper, middle, and lower schools.  Beyond its physical presence, it serves as the arts and learning core, both key  to the educational process and programs of the school.  The Center is comprised of the Janet Root Theater/Gallery and the Haskell  Library.  The theater and library are joined by an art gallery, acting as a hinge in plan,   that together wrap a central plaza and amphitheater.

The Arts portion of the Center consists of a seven hundred seat auditorium, stage, black box theater, scene shop, dressing rooms, and music suite.  Extensive use of glazing provides day lighting, while at the same time, creates a welcoming, transparent envelope that showcases core elements of the building.
